Each evening we will eat together in the village or at local restaurants a short drive from the village. When booking please let us know of any special dietary requirements you may have.
There will be one evening meal for which you will pay outside of the course cost. The expected total cost of this meal will be a maximum of 70.00 euros if you eat a lot and enjoy your wine.
More than likely the cost will be around 50,.00 euros or less.
You will be arranging your own breakfast and there are boulangeries in neighbouring Soreze where fresh pastries can be obtained each morning.
During the workshop you will be using Habotai 8 silk of various sizes. Habotai is a soft medium weight sheer silk originally from Japan but now made in China. It was traditionally used for Kimonos. and now often used for Lingerie, scarves and blouses. Habotai 8 refers to the weight of the silk and while weight ranges from 5mm to 16 mm we prefer 8mm as it is easy to work with.
We will start you off on small silk squares to practice technique and the use of brushes/water/resist, then gradually move onto larger pieces including scarves.
After the intial small squares you will be able to create a four foot long scarf and two square pictures of medium sizes as part of the inclusive cost .
Out side of these above mentioned silks there will be a charge at reasonable cost for any extra silk you may wish to use, this can be up to a one metre square.
The accommodation will be in the village usually an ancient house built somewhere between 1400 - 1600.
The houses are made of timber and local stone, each one being unique it's histor and tenancy.
You will share the house with others attending the course.
The bedrooms are mostly single and shared with twin beds.
A double room is available should you wish to bring a partner along, there is a reduced price for partners not doing silk painting. There is also a special price for children accompanying their parents.
There are special reduced rates for students by arrangement .
We will need proof of current study, an International Student Identity Card or similar proof is required.
There are also reduced rates for those coming on a return visit.
The nearest airports are Toulouse and Carcassonne with Toulouse being the best for International flights.
