Growing up in Notting Hill in London during the sixties i was a
small boy surrounded by the vibrant buzz of an eclectic urban energy
fuelled by the explosion of creative multicultural sensitivity.
The colours, the flavours, the sounds and the smells made my childhood world exciting .
Then the boundaries blurred , becoming a blank canvas, stretched to extremes.
Creativity in all its forms allows me to appreciate the things that catch my eye, to let the imagination unfold, to shape and evolve.
It is both a release and an acceptance of the complications of being alive, of that shared experience.
To create and discover through artistic endeavour is for me the current which underlies the flow of life,
my breath in and out.
I find inspiration in nature,
in a subtle illusive way.
I do not paint what i see,
but how it feels to me,
it's resonance, energy, delicacy.
Creativity and connectivity,
as one day becomes another.
For me it was always here, the most part of being
the curiosity which became creativity,
the way to connect , to be truly alive.
As an artist i know my roots are deep in my childhood.
That inquistive urge to explore and understand, creating through play and imagination. Learning how things become other things, watching something grow from nothing at all, a loose idea becoming
a tangible reality.
